A Quick, Easy Food-Dispensing Dog Toy

Ever need to distract your puppyBusy Buddy Dog Toy or dog right now? You just need a break, for some reason, and don’t have the time to load up some of the slow-loading toys out there or to stuff a kong. As a professional dog trainer, I often have such moments and this is one of my favorite ways to deal with it.

Step 1: Take 1 food Football. (Both Premier and Realtree make them. These are long-wearing chew toys. I’ve had the Premier one on the right in my home for years. That’s years of hard, dog-pro use and it is pretty much unscathed. That is both impressive and money well spent in my book.)

Step 2: Insert a Natural Balance biscuit. These fit perfectly into the large middle opening and come in a variety of Limited Ingredient options.

Step 3: Hand to dog.

Elapsed time: <10 seconds!

Mess? 0

A busy dog or puppy? Priceless.

Added Benefit? Toy is easy to scrub up and can go right in the dishwasher, if you are so inclined.

Want an extra special treat or need to distract your dog even longer? Jam (and that is the right term usually) a bully stick (USA sourced only) in the small opening above the biscuit slot. That can engage dogs for even longer and makes the biscuit even harder to dislodge.

What is your favorite quick, dog-distracting combo?
