Tough Dog Toys: Dog Balls

Tough Dog Toys ImageFew dog toys are a joy forever but the tough dog toys on this list are close. These durable, proven, darn-near-to-indestructible dog toys are, for most dog people, money well spent.

Rompers – Buy what appeals to you. Your dog is going to love them all, but not destroy them. The most likely end to a toy for you is losing it three years from now in the tall grass somewhere so consider a good brightly colored one.

Chompers – Buy the softer ones your dog can chomp happily. Pip, my resident chomper, loves all balls but adores both the Starmark green one and the Orbee below.

Gnawers – As with most toys for these dogs, buy them big. The wider they have to open their mouths to carry a toy, the less able they are to get the item back to those powerfully destructive back teeth.

Rippers – Oh joy! Dog ball toys can rarely be ripped so buy at will (and report back!)

Pickers  – You best bet are the hard smooth ones that are unlikely to give your dog a place to start picking. Even so, supervise your little Beaver or you may look up to find a pile of bits where the ball used to be!
